We explore the differences between natural and commercial cosmetics, because I want everyone to discover why ingredients from nature are the key to HEALTHY and STRONG skin ✨

🌱 I've been passionate about natural cosmetics since I was around 20 years old (so for almost 30 years now, help me! 🤣). I've considered natural skincare an important part of my overall "diet" since the mid-1990s.
For me, it is out of the question to lubricate the skin with synthetic and chemical ingredients that are linked to a number of health problems 🚫 When I know that women absorb about 2.5 kg of chemicals a year, just from the cosmetics they use, that is enough warning for me. A lot of what we lubricate ourselves with ends up in our bloodstream after only a short time, and spreads throughout the body's systems, and a lot also ends up in nature 💔 This alone is reason enough for me to always choose natural cosmetics with well-thought-out ingredients from the plant kingdom. But, I want to go into it a little more closely and look at the differences between natural and conventional cosmetics.
For me, it's about "feeding" and nourishing the skin and body - also through the skin. I see the skin, which is our largest organ, as a perfect channel for giving the body the best and healthiest nutrition 💪🏼 I prefer to know exactly what I put on my skin, just as I am very careful about what I put in my mouth. This way I believe I strengthen my long-term health, and the bonus is beautiful and strong and supple skin, as well as many benefits that you can't see, but that your organs and blood circulation, hormones, etc. benefit from 🤩

Many people see it this way, among other things, studies show that good plant oils can be "eaten" by our skin in just as good a way as when food passes through the mouth 🌻 In fact, the body's need for essential fatty acids can be met by applying good organic oils such as hemp oil, thistle oil, sunflower, sea buckthorn or other oils rich in omega 3, 6, 9, and 7 💚 In addition, organic plants and herbs contain a wealth of vitamins, minerals and other good nutrients that will benefit your skin and health.

That's why, for almost 20 years, I have chosen to compose recipes that take this into account, and thus "feed" your skin with various combinations of good organic plant oils, in interaction with the fantastic protective beeswax 🐝🍯
By using plant and herbal power in cosmetics, we will get the full effect of the wonderful botanical world around us, which is a treasure trove of ingredients that can be our skin-saving angels, for example:
🌸🧡 Rose and sea buckthorn to keep skin firm and supple
🌿 Sage in deodorant
🌼 Calendula which soothes and smoothes sensitive and troubled skin
🌻 Sunflower with its rich content of important type of omega 6
🥥 Coconut which is good for both dry skin and dry hair
💚 Hemp with its optimal mix of omega 3 and omega 6 fatty acids, etc. etc.

Plant oils and fats have played a central role in human history all over the world, from the so-called "primitive" tribes in the jungle to our ancestors/mothers, and in the ancient great cultures of Egypt, Greece, China and India, among others. For thousands of years, people, from the upper class to the workers, have discovered the same thing all over the world: 🌱🌷🌈 nature has all the answers when it comes to our skin – whether it's for "beauty" or for health (yes, thank you for both, I say).
❌ Yet most modern commercial cosmetics are full of the opposite: ⚗️ Synthetic and chemical ingredients that do not come from nature, but from a laboratory.

This is to distance oneself from nature 😢 to distance oneself from what cultures and humans have used and greatly benefited from for thousands of years.
🙄 Yes, synthetic products usually have a longer shelf life.
🙄 Yes, they are more stable in terms of color and consistency from time to time.
🙄 Yes, they might look better in the jar.

BUT: Many of the synthetic and chemical ingredients have major health question marks attached to them, and others are directly linked to the increase in reported skin sensitivity and related skin conditions (63% of us claim to have sensitive skin that can tolerate little). The chances of side effects when using synthetic-based cosmetics are therefore high 😱 and if you have sensitive skin, commercial cosmetics can be harsh on your skin, and give you more skin challenges in the long run.

💚 Natural ingredients can keep the skin vital, healthy, strong and give a nice natural glow ✨ However, even with natural cosmetics, you may find that there are ingredients that you cannot tolerate.

⚠️ So check what's in the jars, not all plants suit everyone, and choose products with natural ingredients that suit your skin, that help your skin retain its natural moisture, create protection against external influences (beeswax, lanolin and jojoba oil protect against weather and pollution, for example), and preferably with organic ingredients that take care of both you and nature with agriculture that builds up and does not break down nature's ecosystem and cycles 🍃

We have created a small overview to summarize the differences between natural and conventional cosmetics, which for me says the most:

PS In Vossabia's products, there is no need for preservatives in the skin products 💚 as I don't use water at all. Here, there are only goodies from plants and beeswax that last a long time and there is no risk of bacteria, mold or yeast growth. It is only in shampoo and body soap that I use a tiny bit of benzyl to avoid bacteria formation in the powerful herbal tea that the soaps are based on.

Yes, it's easy to understand how I think and what I think about this. And I look at our skincare as food rather than cosmetics (even though by definition it is) so here on the mountain we prefer to step into skin garden ⛰ in front of the skin laboratory 🔬 and nourish ourselves with food rather than synthetic ingredients.
Natural cosmetics actually bring you closer to nature 💚 Try it yourself 😊
Let nature's treasure trove bring you well-being and good skin health with ingredients that truly care for your body! Say goodbye to chemicals 👋🏼 and embrace the natural way 💚
