🙋♀️ But, first a little mood report. Freezing in the heat report! Because that's exactly what happened! Jonatan and I were going up the path we call the Buføringsstien (where the animals go from inland to mountain and outland pastures), and this is a magically beautiful and exciting path that we just love! 300 meters from the house. Crazy diversity, like a jungle, and new things to discover all the time. We were going through our meadow area called Haugen, up the path to dig up some cuttings of my great-grandfather's hop plants that I was going to plant around the newly built tipi in the garden 👩🌾So we went there then, with only hops on my mind. And there, in what I call my Shampoo Field, I saw Horsetail standing tall and green and cheeky! 🤩 Hello! Oh my! It should only be a little bigger than an asparagus now, and there it is, getting ready, dancing with its branches and luring me to it! 🙌 Oh my goodness, I got chills and cheered and jumped around a bit there 🥳 while Jonatan got a long lecture about the incredible properties of horsetail, early growth, the heat that makes everything come earlier, and I had to show him the details of this little bushy creeper of a plant! He was mostly interested in the cars he had with him 😆 but I'm pretty sure that he now knows a lot more about horsetail than most other almost-5-year-olds (and 50-year-olds for that matter!).
Jonatan climbed onto the tractor without me noticing because I was deep in my old woman's trance 😂
SO! That means that here on the farm we are now harvesting Horsetail for the big gold medal! Because we must have lots, lots in fact! Because the shampoo is insanely popular, and it's crazy how much horsetail and nettle have gone into shampoo cooking last year 👏! So here we just need to call in extra people to help pick the shampoo favorite! And yes, it's no wonder the shampoo is so popular, because when you read more about the properties of horsetail, the pieces fall into place! And with a shampoo with horsetail, nettle and yarrow, it just becomes
extremely good care for hair, scalp and even hormones! 😉Yep, you read that right!
👉 We also make a tincture of rosemary, by the way, and we have it in our hair serum. So it's not just rosemary that is a superfood for hair and scalp, but absolutely ALL the ingredients in our hair serum and of course the shampoo are, including: ROSES!
And NOW you'll see how raw this plant is!
💆♀️ Witch hazel rules for hair loss: Horsetail blocks the hormone DHT that causes thinning hair and hair loss! Dihydrotestosterone (DHT) is a steroid hormone that is stronger than testosterone and important for hair growth and puberty in men. Later in life, DHT can have a negative effect by shrinking hair follicles, and it is a cause of hair loss and baldness. The hormone also shortens the hair growth phase, so that the hairs become thinner, shorter, and fewer over time, which leads to noticeable thinning of the hair. Ragweed blocks the formation of DHT and is therefore great to use in shampoos to prevent hair loss. There are also nettle and yarrow which are also in our super good wild herbal shampoo!
Horsetail and nettle are boiled for a long time to release fantastic silicon that strengthens hair and makes it shiny in the very best shampoo!
💪 The plant is one of the richest sources of silicic acid/silicon which is super important for strengthening and supporting connective tissue and hair ! Cowslip can make hair noticeably stronger, shinier, and the plant also helps remove excess oil from the skin and hair. This is enough to explain why it works so well on "teenage hair" too, as we have received feedback from hairdressers, as teenagers during puberty often quickly get oily hair.
✨ Ragweed contains the minerals selenium and, as mentioned, silicon, both of which strengthen connective tissue and hair follicles, and they also strengthen keratin, which stimulates hair regrowth. Silicon also contributes by improving blood circulation in the scalp, which provides plenty of oxygen and nutrients to the hair follicles!
🫧 Horsetail cleanses! The plant has antioxidant properties and can therefore contribute as a cleansing herb for both hair and body. The plant is so rich in minerals, various organic acids and flavonoids and other nutrients that it is also a super diuretic and blood-purifying herb. I recommend using horsetail for cleansing purposes both externally and internally. So use it in oil (hair serum for hair and feel free to test the delicious healthy oil on the body), in tincture and of course as tea ☕️
👉 Horsetail for white spots on nails! Yes, that indicates a calcium imbalance, and horsetail is great for restoring that balance, because the silica supports the body's absorption and metabolism of calcium! It's so tough and amazing, if you ask me!
💅 Horsetail as a nail strengthener! The plant makes fingernails stronger due to its super nutrients. So. If you have nails that break easily, try this: Boil 50 grams of fresh or dried horsetail in 9 dl of water, simmer for 30 minutes, cool and stick your fingers in. Sit back, relax and enjoy your nail care! Afterwards, you can rinse your hair with the decoction and you will get double the benefits!
🤩 Horsetail for urinary tract infections, wound healing and as a digestive aid! The kidneys can benefit greatly from horsetail tea! It is ideal for flushing out our excretory organs, and with the additional diuretic effect, many have experienced the good effect of horsetail on cystitis, among other things. The plant is also astringent, good for the blood vessels, and can work well as a wound healer. By the way, this applies to a huge number of plants. Another reason to drink horsetail tea: it stimulates the appetite, has a choleretic effect and relieves inflammation in the digestive system, and as I said, supports calcium absorption in the body! 🤯 WOW!
💚 Lady's mantle 350 million years ago! Lady's mantle has a documented history that goes all the way back to the Devonian period. At that time, the plant was as tall as a palm tree is today! Incredibly tough that here we go 100 steps out the door, pick this prehistoric plant and create hair and skin products from an herb that has given and given for 350 million years. Gasp! 😱
So today's tip is: get to know horsetail, use it in tea, make a tincture, test our horsetail shampoo and hair serum with the superplant, and from now on let horsetail become a part of your life too! 🌿🌟💚
