Relaunch of the sunscreen ☀️

Relaunch of the sunscreen ☀️

Less white on the skin, and with even more super plants like SEABUCKTHORN and SHEA!
Less white on the skin, and with even more super plants like SEABUCKTHORN and SHEA!

It has actually been exactly 15 years since I developed the sunscreen that has been part of Vossabia's healthy range since 2007. Time flies, and in these 15 years, incredibly moving feedback has poured in about how our natural sunscreen has made sun damage disappear, burning and watery eyes have become history for many, and not least, there have been many reports about the good sun protection and the nice tan people have gotten with Vossabia sunscreen 🤩
And I'm really happy about all the healthy things people get when they apply this to children and adults too 😊

We were so happy with the sunscreen, until Urtegaarden in Denmark concentrated the safe sun filter in late summer 2019 (it probably became even more stable then..) 🤔 and it has given us headaches because the white, white filter was then more difficult to apply to the skin, and several people reported a Captain Sabertooth look.

The extra white version is now thankfully history, but, tip: don't overdo it like Jonatan, the sunscreen is heavy and it's a good idea to make a line with the pump so you can see how far you can spread with a small amount 👍😉
Guess it has given me a lot of headaches and many, many hours of research and testing new recipes to maintain the fabulous properties, and make it easier to spread the good (but BAD) sunscreen.

But, absolutely not in vain! 🧡 NOW I am so happy, and not only has the safe, natural sun filter become easier to apply to the skin and reduce whiteness for good, BUT, I have also added even more and more of the best plants I know so that the sunscreen will not ONLY provide good broad-spectrum sun protection, but be a SUPER KINDEREGG for the skin and body and provide large amounts of nutrition that cares, repairs, softens, adds vitamins and fatty acids and helps make it a super fantastic sunscreen!☀️

Sit back and read about all the good things about Vossabia's relaunched sunscreen:

TIOSOL
Liquid physical sunscreen with non-nano titanium dioxide.

Sunscreens that use mineral filters as sun filters are called physical, or mineral sunscreens, which then applies to Vossabia sunscreens that use titanium oxide with non-nano particles. 💫This forms a film on the skin, reflecting the sun's rays so that they spread and do not penetrate the skin (as chemical sunscreens do), and thus also protects against heating down into the skin.

Mineral-based physical sunscreens (which come from either zinc oxide or titanium dioxide) have been mentioned in several studies over the past 15 years as the only safe and healthy sunscreens for people and the environment, including in a report from the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) (2019). I really care about this safe sunscreen, and I am so shocked by the content of “regular” sunscreens, and when the FDA, as the authority they are, also signs off on it, I think it is strange that chemical sunscreens are not banned. Well, it is actually banned in Hawaii, because of the damage it does to coral reefs! What about the health of us humans, and wildlife and fish and other things in the environment and the cycle that ingest residues from this? 🙈

EWG - Environmental Working Group - is an organization that works to disseminate up-to-date research to empower consumers to make informed choices for a healthy lifestyle and a safe environment. They have reported that recent years of research have revealed many worrisome ingredients in chemical sunscreens. A number of studies point to the endocrine-disrupting effects of three common sunscreen ingredients, and now the European Commission has also published that three other chemical sunscreen ingredients are potentially very harmful as well.

👇😰

"The ingredients oxybenzone, octinoxate, octisalate, octocrylene, homosalate and avobenzone are all systemically absorbed into the body after one use (Matta 2019, Matta 2020), according to studies published by the FDA, which also found that they could be detected on the skin and in the blood weeks after no longer being used (Matta 2020). Previous studies detected many sunscreen ingredients in breast milk and urine samples (Schlumpf 2008, Schlumpf 2010).” https://www.ewg.org/sunscreen/report/the-trouble-with-sunscreen-chemicals/

That's why I'm very happy and proud to have been able to offer healthy and safe sunscreen for 15 years! 😊 It sparked a relaunch and deluxe variant to emphasize in a strong way how important I think preventive health and holistic thinking are! Yes, exclamation point! 😉

TINDVED🧡

I have been completely enchanted by this amazing plant, which is actually a large shrub/tree. After studying its properties and contents for several years now, and then developing the wonderful Sea Buckthorn and Nettle night cream, sea buckthorn was at the forefront of my mind when I was now developing the sunscreen.

Sea buckthorn adds a lot of orange color, which is because it contains so much vitamin A (carotene), and it now makes the sunscreen completely peach-colored instead of white. 🧡It's a golden sunscreen that you can now spread on, and if you flip it, there's no danger of Captain Sabretooth look-a-like in the sun, but a nice golden color that manages to drown out the white filter (which is in there anyway and is gone). With a thin line from the pump bottle on the skin you're going to apply, it's now no problem to get it light and smooth on the skin with golden tones added to the skin. Thank you, dear Sea buckthorn🙏

BUT, listen up. Sea buckthorn is actually extremely exciting when it comes to protection from UV rays from the sun! In summary, researchers believe that sea buckthorn oil works to protect against damage and disruption from the sun's rays in the skin, and is thus a very promising natural ingredient in photo-protection of the skin (in contrast to photo-sensitive plants such as bergamot and other citrus species, among others, which can cause sunburn quickly, so do not use day creams with citrus).

For those who are interested, you can read more about the research results in this article: Agnieszka Gęgotek et al (2018): “The Effect of Sea Buckthorn ( Hippophae rhamnoides L.) Seed Oil on UV-Induced Changes in Lipid Metabolism of Human Skin Cells”.

Additionally, sea buckthorn is a brilliant oil to use as an ingredient in after-sun products, again due to its sought-after properties linked directly to its nutritional composition☀️. The oil revitalizes and protects the skin by increasing collagen levels in the skin. The increased collagen levels also reduce inflammation from UV damage to the skin, and it is effective in healing the skin after burns. So I will definitely be using Sea Buckthorn and Nettle after long hours in the sun!

Sea buckthorn is, as mentioned in previous newsletters, packed with superfoods. The plant contains a powerful network of antioxidants, including high levels of vitamins A and E, which help repair the skin. In addition, sea buckthorn contains vitamins B, C and K, as well as important essential fatty acids, and this whole nutritional package is also known to absorb UV rays. And then there are all the properties it has for skin restoration, on wrinkles and lines, for sensitive skin, eczema, and generally dry skin.

With sea buckthorn in Vossabia's sunscreen, this has now become a deluxe sunscreen! 😊👍

SHEA BUTTER

Shea is a tree that grows wild in Africa, and it can grow up to 20 meters high! It takes a full 8-10 years before it bears fruit, but after that it can produce fruit for over 200 years! Quite an exciting tree, isn't it? But, what is really interesting is the fruit's content and properties. Here too, there is a good level of the important vitamin E, good fatty acids, and then shea contains an exciting ester: cinnamic acid ester, which provides sun protection to the oil/fat.

So it makes sense that I am now proud to introduce yet another super plant into my sunscreen! 😊 Shea is also something most people tolerate well, and it is very emollient, as well as being anti-inflammatory. I find that my hands get so soft from the sunscreen, so I regularly use it as a hand cream, and then both shea and sea buckthorn contribute to that softening.

JOJOBA OIL

Jojoba is also an important helper to soften the skin, and this small tree jojoba's oil protects the skin by, among other things, binding the skin's moisture. One special thing about jojoba is that the oil (or liquid wax as it is) is very stable, and this stability makes it well suited for sun products as it helps resist oxidation. In addition, it is also rich in vitamin E, and studies show that vitamin E combined with other antioxidants can help against sun-damaged skin, and jojoba contains both. ⭐Jojoba is also a super after-sun ingredient that soothes the skin quickly.

COCONUT:

Coconut oil has become very popular in recent years, and many people know some of the good properties of coconut fat both internally and externally. 🥥 Coconut is great for dry skin, dry hair and it also adds important fats that calm sensitive and irritated skin. It is rich in antioxidants, good essential fatty acids including the interesting fatty acid lauric acid which is the most important in coconut. This composition is considered one of the reasons why coconut works well as an antibacterial, antifungal, anti-inflammatory ingredient.

CALENDULA :

Even Vossabia's sunscreen has the wonderful marigold on the ingredient list! 🌼The universal one of all! With properties you could list like in a long book. Eczema, rashes, burns, wounds, healing of damaged skin, acne... Yes, I'll stop myself, it might be too long 😉

So, if people were satisfied and got a lot of benefit and joy from Vossabia sunscreen for the first 15 years, then I look forward to many now in the next 15 years experiencing even more plant power added to the body along with natural, safe, effective and healthy sun protection!

Only the best is good enough 🤩🌞 Hooray for deluxe sunscreen!

Spring greetings from Renate
