Vossabia sunscreen: Good for people and the environment! πΌππ
This week the weather forecast is for fantastic warmth and lots of sunshine! π Finally, the really good spring and early summer are here and I'm looking forward to days outside in the garden and fields! πΊπΌ It will be so wonderful to plant out opal plants of chamomile and Calendula in the scorching sun! And then of course it's time to think about sun protection. Sooooo: bring it with youΒ 17% discount on package deal with sunscreenΒ on the occasion of the 17th anniversary of our natural sunscreen, and of course it lasts until May 17th! ππ³π΄
There are many ways to protect yourself from the sun, and personally I am concerned that it is not justΒ protectionΒ I need, but alsoΒ nutritionΒ from this life-giving glowing star β¨ I learned a few years ago from a holistic, knowledgeable doctor that you should wait to apply sunscreen after about 30 minutes in the sun, so that the body can absorb its daily requirement of vitamin D. I practice this on myself and my kids, as we here in the north are usually deficient in this important vitamin.Β
A regular companion on trips to North Cyprus, both at the beach and on mountain hikes.
Β
I developedΒ sunscreenΒ in 2007, when I couldn't find any other natural and at the same time well-thought-out caring and nourishing sunscreens, and I used the recommendations I read in some Swedish studies, which recommendedΒ physical natural filterΒ as the only safe sun protection. In addition, I spent a long time carefully choosing which other plant oils and ingredients would be included in the recipe, as it was, and is, super important to me that all the ingredients work together and give the most possible to the person who puts it on:Β Sun protection of course, skin care AND as much nutrition as possible π
This is what I mean by it being like a fantastic kinder egg! Our soon-to-be 17-year-old companion demonstrates Vossabia's concept perfectly: it's about health and holistic thinking around health, nature, ecology and diversity ππΒ I want nutrition in my mouth and nutrition in my skin and from my mouth and skin to my body, blood and organs and the entire ecosystem within us. AND I want to protect the ecosystem we are a part of with nature and the ocean. It is therefore important to have skin and sun products that take into account coral reefs, life in rivers, and the entire diversity on land and in water πͺΈπ¬π¦π
Why natural sunscreen?
For your health and the environment's! π
Β
Conventional sunscreens with chemical filters have been shown in many studies to have harmful content for both people and the environment π« It is actually banned in Hawaii, due to the damage it does to coral reefs! What about the health of us humans, wildlife, fish and others in the environment and the cycle that ingest residues from this? π°
Β
π In natural sunscreens, you get immediate physical protection from either zinc oxide, or non-nano titanium dioxide, which we use. The mineral works by forming a layer on the skin, which reflects and scatters UV rays, thus protecting the skin, and it has been mentioned in several studies over the past 17 years as the only safe and healthy sunscreens for people and the environment, including in a report from the American FDA (2019). These two minerals, in non-nano particle form, are also the only two 'coral reef safe' sunscreens ππͺΈ

If you want to read even more about sunscreen and factor and such, you can find more information in previous blog posts from us here .
π I'm so happy that many people have become more aware of this with sunscreens and their ingredients in recent years, it's absolutely fantastic! More and more people care, and many feel the difference when they have used natural and caring sunscreens versus chemical sunscreens π I can't count everyone who has either written or come to me and told me how sun eczema, watery eyes and other ailments have disappeared after they stopped using chemical sunscreens and switched to Vossabia's sunscreen. Or all those who know how important it is to take care of nature and the environment and not least our bodies.
βοΈ Many people have recently become more aware that we actually need the sun's rays for our health, and not just talk and write about how dangerous the sun is.Β
Β
As mentioned, we need vitamin D, but there are other great health benefits of the sun. We all know that people have traveled to sunny, warm places since time immemorial to relieve joint pain and pain challenges. However, there are many other lesser-known, but important health benefits to be gained from the sun. Margit Vea just wrote a very interesting blog post about how important the sun is for the microbiome in the skin and thus our gut and, when it all comes together π«

π±π The ecosystem in our skin and body is something Vossabia is very interested in, and for those who are interested, I would definitely recommend reading Margit Vea's post. She writes, among other things, about how the sun is effective for mood and even depression, for our intestinal flora, in relation to our brain, effective against pain and much more. She refers to some research, so here there is a lot of opportunity to delve into the positive health benefits of the sun. π Margit enjoys the sun a lot without sunscreen, and some with Vossabia's sunscreen ! I like that! Read her exciting post here .
So let's enjoy the sun, embrace the positive health benefits and not demonize and keep the sun away from our skin, but protect ourselves sensibly with healthyΒ Sunscreen , light clothing, caps and hats, shade, breaks, eating carrots and sea buckthorn and other vitamin A-rich foods, and we'll have a wonderful summer π₯π! Enjoy the first warm pre-summer days, folks! πΌππ§‘
