Today we celebrate something very special. A shampoo – yes, a shampoo!🤩

And now I want to take you into the story of how this shampoo came to be – and why it has changed the hair and scalp health of so many.
🌿 It started in our meadows 

The development of the shampoo began 12 years ago . And – as always with us – it all started with the plants 🌱
 
After much evening study of botany and hikes on our slopes, I knew that nettle and yarrow should be included in the shampoo. Nettle was an easy choice, because it is so rich in silicon , which is important for hair.
 
Yarrow was the only one I felt strongly about including, and later I learned why it was perfect.

…but something was missing. I felt that the combination was great – but not quite perfect.
 
It wasn't until London , when I asked my natural cosmetics and herbalism teacher what his favorite plant for hair and scalp was, that everything fell into place.
“Horsetail!” he said flatly. “Horsetail!”
And right then I felt it in my whole body: It's the last piece of plant 🌱

At home on the farm, as if nature wanted to show the way, I saw something I had never noticed before:
An entire meadow of humble, but enormously powerful Kjerringrokk , 50 meters from the production kitchen.

So there was no doubt about it. The complete hair trio was ready to become magic together:

Mike had taught me that the vast majority of shampoos in the world do not contain herbs at all – tragically, because as he said: to make a really good shampoo, there MUST be herbs in it.

So I went out. I picked. I dried gently. I boiled and waited and steeped and waited and mixed gently.
A long, demanding and sensitive process. And I felt:
 
This is going to be really special. It was. And it still is.

Let's start with this: The shampoo is 65–70% herbal tea – not water.
It is extremely unusual – really!
It's not just a natural shampoo, it's a botanical therapeutic hair wash! Handcrafted in every part of the process to preserve the power of the herbs in the craft!
 
The shampoo quickly became so popular that I almost wanted to stop selling it. It almost felt too sacred to sell, haha😂!

Shampoo with a health, environmental and ethical focus!

 This is actually one of very few shampoos on the market internationally that has a clear health focus with its botanical power, is environmentally friendly and uses locally sourced ingredients, and is also ethically produced.





Daniel and Bendik help harvest the unripe plants that become the shampoo, and they produce 50 meters from the meadows.


Mike in London not only taught me about horsetail – but also an incredible amount about what actually happens in the shampoo industry . The environmental and ethical aspects only became even more important to me when he talked about industrial shampoo with examples of ingredients that are extracted in terribly unethical ways, hormone-disrupting ingredients and content that is not good for rivers and waterways when it is released back into nature from showers and drains.

 It makes me uneasy when I read that many people are going back to store-bought shampoo , and that it's actually a big trend. It's not a good idea!
