Now freeze it over. the whole country again, and many of us wake up to blue numbers on the thermometer.
And in midwinter, it's not just the cold outside that takes its toll – it's the combination of cold air outside and dry, hot air inside that can be really tough on your skin, hair, and lips.
👉 The result?
Dryer skin, chapped lips, frizzy and static hair, dry ends – and many also experience more stiffness in muscles and joints when the temperature fluctuates between indoors and outdoors.
So here comes a little mid-winter rescue with good tips from us at Vossabia 🌿
🧴 1) Cold cream – winter's shield for the face
Cold cream is very popular these days, and it's no wonder. This is the perfect cream for when you're going to kindergarten/school, on a trip, ice skating, or just out in the everyday cold.

Yes, it's so emollient too! If it were just the protection it provided, that would have been great, but as with all Vossabia products, I'm always looking for the Kinderegg effect with protection, nourishment, care and even more when I develop recipes.
And the most visible effect I remember in Hoddevik was winter surfing 🏄♀️ Amazing effect on the skin of the face!
It went from red-spotted and sore one day – to wonderfully smooth and even the next day in the ocean 🌊 And the only difference? Without and with our Cold Cream 🙌

Here you see some happy cheeks that make me reminisce, and I realize that it's been far too long since I last took the kids surfing there.
The organizers of a wonderful women's surf camp in Hoddevik this fall also reminded me of it, so now it's just before I get in the car towards Stad ! 😉
The ladies in the ocean surfed with Kuldekrem diligently in use – and they also loved hair serum in their hair when they played in the cold ocean 💙
(PS: As in the sun – remember to think about it in strong cold weather too: wear a scarf, hat and cover your face well if you are going to be outside for a long time.)

👁️ 2) Eye balm – when wind and cold make your eyes tired and swollen
When it's windy and tears flow in the wind, the skin around the eyes can become extra sore – and many people also get more swollen eyes.
|
It was on winter vacation in Lindesnes with the kids that I discovered how brilliant Augebalsam is in the wind.
We cycled a lot, and we explored lighthouses and beaches and had a great time – in a constant strong and cold wind. My eyes were watering and I was getting swollen from the salty tears, the biting wind and cold air and the strong sun, and then I had this Eureka experience:

If eye balm + sunscreen was absolutely brilliant in the wind… then eye balm + cold cream is at least as brilliant in many sub-zero temperatures🥶
The fairly new package of Cold Cream + Eye Balm has become hugely popular – and I can understand why. That combination is simply a winter pillow for your face 💛
Today is actually the day for it! As the freezing temperatures creep further and further down the scale this morning, the wind is increasing in step with it.
So much so that I, who love to be shaken up a bit, had to take a short walk up the forest road and feel the wind rip through me. And then, of course, I was prepared!

💆♀️ 4) Rosemary Hair Serum + Lemongrass Hair Serum – against static hair, dry ends and scalp
Winter often makes hair both drier and more static, and many people experience more frizz and flyaways.
Perfect for those of us who want to tame flyaways in our everyday lives – and for those who want to give their hair proper care like hair treatment. Or for those who throw themselves into the cold sea.

👄 5) Chapped lips? Panther balm saves the day
Lips often become drier in the winter and need more care than in the summer.
And do you get a real crack in your lip? Or maybe you suffer from herpes?
👉 Then Panterbalsam is absolutely fantastic for healing quickly.
Bonus: I also use it a lot now in the winter when my body gets a little stiff from the cold and temperature changes – on my feet, hips, and it's so good to apply to my chest, throat, neck, and forehead.
Tip: Apply a thin layer, and feel free to reapply after a while if it is really dry/cracked.
|
🤲 6) Soft Hands – the winter favorite that retains moisture for a long time
Soft Hands is in use several times a day here now. It is so delicious to apply, and it keeps the moisture for a long time and with a small amount of this delicious hand cream you don't get sticky at all. Perfect when your hands get dry from the cold, warm indoor air and a lot of washing.
And I love that it contains rose root harvested right outside in the mountains here - one of the most powerful plants we have in the Nordic countries.
It is known as an adaptogenic plant (i.e. a plant that helps the body to withstand stress and helps increase energy), but it is also wonderful for the skin:
Rose root can support the skin's elasticity, calmness and strength when it becomes dry and irritated.
We have it because we believe in mountain power in our everyday lives – right down to our hand cream 🤲💛

|
That's why rose root fits so well in a hand cream: the hands are often the part of the body that gets the most "weather and wind" all year round 💛
In Soft Hands , rose root helps to give strength, glow and elasticity to winter-dry hands ✨🤲

❄️ Mini “Winter Routine” for the face (simple and delicious)
If you want to give your skin a little extra mid-winter pampering, here's a little routine that feels like a spa - but is easy to do:
1. Scrub regularly with Rose and Red Clover Scrub
2. Mask-cozy with honey
- preferably with the rose scrub, or with a little turmeric
– or “Vossabia-style”: painted pine needles (like we did at the gathering at Villa Vetleskog in Luster 🌲✨)
3. Afterwards: Sea Buckthorn & Nettle or Calendula Balm as a day/night cream
4. Are you going to be out for a long time?
👉 Apply cold cream right before going out
5. And yes: always have lip balm in your pocket!
My current favorites are Raspberry Lips and Mint Lips … but I see that brown lips are trending – so maybe I need to be a little more “latest” with Cone Lips 😉🤎
