Extremely ready for anything – thanks to Vossabia! 🔥

Extremely ready for anything – thanks to Vossabia! 🔥

Hi, Ylva here! 👋 This week I have had the honor of writing this week's blog post. And what a week it has been! Extreme Sports Week is over – and Vossabia's extremely good product got me through all the madness!

Extreme sports week is extremely fun, cool, tough and heavy and not least scary! Vossabia made it easier for me to get through such a week! I am so happy with these fantastic products my mother has created, and so are many others. During the week, my mother once again confirmed this.

It's fun to be a spectator, but even more fun to do as I did this year: participate! I participated in 6 competitions in 4 sports – a competition every day! And my mom's product was a constant companion at all the activities! 🐝

🧗🏼 Monday: Speed climbing

I started the Extreme Sports Week with a tough speed climbing competition – and it was really fun! Two by two people climb a high wall at full speed, with a bell at the top and timed. This was my very first Veko competition, and I made it all the way to the final!

I smeared my arms and legs with Panther balm before the start to get the blood circulation going – and I felt it! Speed and energy in my body, and an adrenaline rush like no other. In the final I met, among others, the Norwegian champion in speed climbing, so yes – I was nervous. My mouth and lips were parched, but luckily I had Mint lips . To the rescue!

I was so nervous before the final that my mouth and lips were completely dry – but hey, it doesn't matter when you have Mint Lips !

It's strange to think that just a few years ago I had never tried climbing with a rope and harness. It wasn't until I started on the Wilderness Line that I got a proper introduction to climbing techniques – and steep slopes. It has given me both strength and confidence on the wall.

But my interest in climbing came early. When I was little, my brother Emil would take me up in the trees and on big boulders in the forest. He loved to challenge me. When I was 8, he said we were going on a “little hike,” but it was a steep climb up a long, slippery mountain gorge! I was climbing the whole way – 90% from fear and 10% from tears of joy that I made it out alive. But that hike taught me something important: No matter how scary it feels, you can do it – and that feeling of accomplishment afterwards is worth it!

10 years after the tears in the gorge, there was a final place and 4th place in speed climbing – that was the trick with Panterbalsam on the outside and adrenaline inside the body! Photo: Ekstremsportveko

🌊 Tuesday: Riverboard

New day, new competition: River board. A crazy and chaotic competition where you lie on a small river board and rush down a rough river equipped with a helmet, wetsuit and swimming fins. With this equipment you got a "lucky shot" and were sent down the roaring river. In the competition, it was primarily about getting down alive, but of course first.

Since I'm a competitive swimmer, I thought this competition would be easy. I thought it would be like being on home turf. I've done lying on my board and kicking with my swimming feet a thousand times before! But I was wrong!

Riverboarding was absolutely wild. I got carried away in a waltz, had a nosebleed and cut my ankle – but the Marigold ointment saved me! Photo: Ekstremsportveko

This was not like the calm chlorine water in the pool! The current took me full speed down the river and I tried my best to cling to the river board. Suddenly, I, along with another person, was carried into a waltz!

A waltz is a type of wave that goes upstream against the current, and it was like being inside a brutal washing machine! I gasped for air, and after what felt like an eternity we got out of the waltz, and I tried my best to hold on to the river board. I turned and looked at one of my competitors who said "You're bleeding from your nose, but it's fine!".

Riverboarding was definitely the most brutal and extreme competition I participated in at the weekend! Photo: Ekstremsportveko

Calendula Balm can be effective in treating and healing wounds.

🤸🏻Wednesday: Death Race

The third day was a break day, I thought. I was just going to watch Emil in Deathmatch. Me and Gard, the son of Vossabia's good employee Hildegunn, were on our way to watch these lunatics throw themselves from far too high heights with and without full control.

But, when we got there, I said to Gard, a little excitedly and ironically: "Shouldn't we just join in then?" Before I knew it, we were both standing with our start numbers on our arms! Gard clearly hadn't caught my irony 😉

"Should I join?" I asked, jokingly. Suddenly I had a starting number.

I was the last one to jump so I had plenty of time to worry. After standing there worrying for a while, I thought about that time with Emil up in the mountains at home - I just had to jump in!

💦 Thursday: Deep Water Solo + awards ceremony

Thursday was a new challenge in an 8 meter high climbing wall above the Outdoor Pool. Deep Water Solo: first man up to the top without any safety gear, and those who missed the roof and fell down got a refreshing swim! There were a lot of splashes that day, because that wall was difficult!

Sun, climbing and splashing – Vossabia's natural sunscreen was a lifesaver.

While I was getting ready for the final in Deep Water Solo, the whole Vossabia gang was at an event where the Voss Herad Business Award was to be awarded.

Mom said that she had tears in her eyes and a lump in her throat when she was awarded the Business Award for 2024, especially because of the fine speech by Håvard Skattum, the selection leader, who, among other things, said that they were sorry that they had neglected themselves, because Vossabia should have received the award a long time ago. It was incredibly moving for all of us!

After the awards ceremony, the whole Vossabia gang came to the pool to cheer me on in the final. It was so cozy, because it's like they're all part of the family. Not so strange, perhaps, when they "hang out" at my house almost as much as I do.

Unfortunately, it was a short finale for me, before I hit the water. The wall had been changed and made even more advanced, and I didn't make it up! I have so much respect for those climbers who "easily" climbed to the top, impressive!

🪨 Friday: Bouldering in rain and sleet

The next day there was a bouldering competition. Far into the forest, on a mountain with huge boulders, and LOTS of bugs and mosquitoes, we had to climb as many boulders as we could in a few hours!

Mosquitoes, gnats and rain – Panther balm & Chamomile balm to the rescue.

The knot only took a break during the rain showers that made the boulders super slippery and very difficult, but as soon as it eased, the knot swarmed again.

The mosquitoes plagued many climbers and spectators in the forest, and I also got a few bites before I could pick up Panther Balm from my bag. But that's no problem either: Chamomile Balm quickly soothes itching and irritation! Hehe, I always feel prepared, and of course I share with others too!

A woman came running up to me while I was applying Panterbalsam : "Is that the insect repellent from Vossabia? Can I please have some? It's super good!"

Already bitten by mosquitoes? Chamomile balm Relieves itching quickly and naturally.

🚣 Saturday: Kayak

The last day at Veko I was in the beautiful Raundalselva. Head to Head kayak competition for everything from beginners to experts. I was of course quite a beginner here as in all the other competitions during Veko. Thanks to Villmarkslinja I have gained some experience in river kayaking, and that is probably what helped me to the final. Because the final was here too! Yay!! So much fun racing down the cascading rapids!

🎉 Saturday evening: Concert and home spa

The last night came and I was ready for the concert, of course with my new favorite. Raspberry lips on both lips and cheeks! The highlight was the band Kakkmaddafakka.

The dancing crowd turned into a jumping crowd when ItaloBrothers came on with the song "Stamp On The Ground". The concert tent became a very crowded and lively sauna afterwards. I can guarantee that many people inside the concert tent could have used a good dose of Vossabia's delicious deodorant , hehe.

After such a fantastic, but also hard and hectic week, it was heavenly to close the bathroom door and just treat yourself to a wonderful Home spa ! Body scrub, facial scrub, body balm – you name it! Perfect ending before my Vossabia summer begins in full swing.

Home spa package with 3 wonderful products!

It's nice to end Veko with a wash in the river, with shampoo with wild herbs !
