Almost 19 years ago, I sat with little newborn Ylva – little sleep, a lot of waking… and quite swollen eyes.
It wasn't just a little bit. It was real. I felt a strong need building up for an eye product that actually worked, AND not least, that was healthy and safe for the delicate and thin skin around the eyes. And typical of me: during maternity leave, creativity soars!
So I did what I always do: I went deep into the plants 🌿 Studied. Tested. Felt.
The goal was clear:
- get rid of swollen eyes
- strengthen and nourish the skin
- make something mild enough for everyday use
- prevent burning and sore skin
- care and protect sensitive skin

🌼 The solution: Arnica
I came back to an old acquaintance – arnica . A plant I had used before, and knew could reduce swelling. And therein lay the key. Eye balm had to contain sunflower.
When I had the recipe ready in 2007… something almost a little crazy happened: My puffy eyes actually disappeared in just a few nights. I never thought it would work so well. But, on me it was a complete failure! And fortunately for many others, it has proven to be:

Besides the crying, camping is the WORST thing for my eyes. Especially on a rainy trip. Humid air + bad sleep = deluxe eyes 😅
So I did a little test right after I had it ready in 2007. A test I hadn't planned! We were going to the market to sell Augebalsam for the first time, and I brought baby Ylva, Emil 4 years old and the dad.
